I would really like to help. What can I do?

There are many ways you can help at Sadie's Place:

Donate: The simplest way to help is to money or other items. Feed, vet bills, the farrier and even just odds and ends such as buckets, leads, halters and hoofpicks are an ongoing expense for us. We try not to ask our generous foster families to do more than provide a caring temporary home, though most go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis! Donations of hay or straw are always welcome, as well as old (but still useable) tack and other horsey items.

Become a member: A family membership, which costs $50, supports a horse in foster care for 1 month. As well, you will receive your choice of one of our lovely stuffed 'Rescue Horses' seen at the right. When you adopt your horse, you will be able to register your horse and it's name in the Sadie's Rescue Registry, and will receive registration papers for your horse.

Foster an equine: If you have space and a bit of time, why not consider fostering one of our equines? Year round, or even just for the summer, we are always looking for foster families. Visit this page to learn more about fostering for Sadie's Place.

Sponsor an equine: Donate a specific monthly amount to support a fostered animal and receive monthly updates about the doings of your equine 'foster child'. Sponsor buttons will appear next to animals in need of sponsorship.

Volunteer some time: There are always horses that need to be brushed and loved at Sadie's Place. Because we foster out to areas all over the island, even if you live far away from our home base, there may be animals near you which need a little love and attention.

Get involved in fundraising activities: Throughout the year, we will be having various different fundraising events and we will need help! Join the crew and help us raise awareness while we raise funds to help support our rescue efforts.

Special Event Set-Up: We always need manpower for many of the special informational events we participate in. If you are willing to set up and man a booth at horseshows, trade fairs, etc. and pass out literature on Sadie's Place, please let us know!

Advertise us: Sometimes, people just don't know what to do when they can no longer keep their horse or pony. Let people in your area know that we are here to help!

Farm Inspection: We ensure that each horse we place is going to a safe and happy environment by doing a pre-adoption site inspection. Volunteers able to inspect farms outside Queen's County area are especially welcome!

Adoption Follow-Up: Sadie's Place has a follow-up policy currently in place to make sure that the horse is adjusting well to its new situation. Volunteers would visit the horse every few months and communicate with and possibly assist the adoptive owner with reschooling.
