Statistics from the Canadian Horse Defense Coalition suggest 112,887 horses were slaughtered in Canada in 2008. This is a 42 per cent increase over 2007 and a 125 per cent increase over 2006. Many of these horses were young, vibrant, sound and sane animals. Their only crime was outliving their usefulness to their owner. At Sadie's Place, we offer owners an alternative. Through our assessment and re-training process we can provide these horses and ponies a second chance at a new life. **Click here for our adoption form** This form tells us about you, your horse experience and what kind of horse you are interested in. We use this information to match you with the horse or pony that best suits your experience and situation, and to match horses and ponies to their best chances of a forever and loving home. It may seem like a lot of information, but allows us to get a good picture of where the animal will live and will allow us to take into account any of the horse's personality quirks, to ensure that both you and your new horse have a positive experience. Adoption fees range, depending on how much the horse will be able to do. Generally, a rideable horse will start at around $300, with adoption fees increasing with the amount of training they have.
